 Anticipation builds as the roads get quieter and the surrounds grow ever more lush during the drive to Noble House. Despite Phuket's rapid tourism growth, Cape Panwa on the south-east tip of the island still holds fast to a slow-paced, traditional way of life, and the intimate Moon Cove estate, of which Noble House is a part, offers total privacy.

Entering Noble House through its grand double archway and stepping into the cosy living room, the villa's main attraction is quickly revealed: a fabulous, unobstructed view of Ao Yon, a lively little bay dotted with moored long-tail boats and yachts, and a pearl farm at the centre marked by strings of colourful buoys.

 

 Stretching across the front of the four-bedroomed villa is a 10.5 x 8m infinity pool where guests can indulge in a cool dip while taking in this classic tropical panorama, and in the estate’s large shared garden, coconut palms and a riot of exotic plants and trees – many carefully chosen for their aromatic appeal – complete the scene: wherever you walk you're met with a rich floral or fruity scent. Pétanque enthusiasts, meanwhile, will enjoy playing on the beachfront pitch. 

The king-bedded master bedroom enjoys the best pool access and seascapes, though the views from the other bedrooms are good enough to ensure no one misses any action in the bay. As well as the four guestrooms, a separate pavilion at the back of the villa houses two 'nanny' bedrooms. 



Moon Cove estate is staffed by two housekeepers and a groundsman who take care of all three villas and live in separate quarters on site. Breakfast is not included in the rate and a professional Thai chef may be hired to prepare other meals for an extra charge, plus grocery costs. The modern kitchen is well-equipped for those who wish to self cater, and dining spaces include the formal dining room and a covered terrace for alfresco meals. 

Larger groups can rent Noble House together with Villa Hai Leng or Villa Taipan, its neighbours on this exclusive estate.

 

Location

Noble House is part of the three-villa Moon Cove private estate, wedged between a jungle-clad hill and the beach of Ao Yon, on Phuket's Cape Panwa. This busy little bay remains well off the tourist track with a sprinkling of yachts and long-tail boats plying its smooth-as-glass waters. The low-key Phuket Yacht Club is just down the beach, while splendid cruise ships heading to the harbour at Ao Makham can occasionally be seen in the distance. The beach is sandy with some rocks and the water is shallow and calm year round (though a bit murky at times due to the large amount of boat activity in the bay), ideal for young children to enjoy. Along the beach are a few rustic but serviceable eateries, but those seeking a greater variety of restaurants and activities will need to rent a car or hire a taxi. Just a kilometer or two away, the spas, sports facilities and restaurants of some of Phuket's most elegant resorts can be sampled, including the swish Sri Panwa, the Panwa Beach Hotel, the new but already well-regarded Cloud 19 Retreat and the Radisson Plaza.
